November 5 & 6 Fall Jamboree Will Determine SpeedSTR & Slingshot National Champs; 600 Sprints Also Booked;
Myerstown, PA – The 2016 Fall Jamboree, presented by Speedway Entertainment and Action Track USA, will be held at Trail-Way Speedway in Hanover, Pa. on November 5th & 6th. The weekend will include National and Regional point races for the USAC All Pro SpeedSTR’s, the All-Star Slingshots, & Junior Slingshots. The always popular Wingless 600 Sprints will also take to the speedway for bragging rights and a hefty payout.
The Sunday races for the SpeedSTR’s and Slingshot Divisions will carry double Tour points to crown the Illustrious 11 in the SpeedSTR division, the Elite 11 in the All Star Slingshot Class, and the Great 8 in the Junior Slingshot division. The 2016 National Championship in all three classes is still very much up for grabs among several worthy contenders.
Both Saturday and Sunday will offer a complete racing program of qualifying heats, last-chance B-Mains, and feature races for all four divisions – a format that mirrors the one used at Kutztown’s Action Track USA. Each day’s agenda will begin with hot laps at noon and qualifying activity gets underway at 1 p.m. In addition to the incredible racing action, fans will be able to stroll – and shop – in a vendor display and T-shirt Corral area behind the grandstands.
Speedway Entertainment is encouraging all race teams and motorsports apparel vendors to bring their merchandise to the Fall Jamboree. The T-Shirt Corral will feature both new and vintage t-shirts, sweatshirts, caps, and other items…many at bargain basement prices as teams and vendors liquidate their inventories at this end-of-the-season event. Mike Dicely has been invited to display his latest Hyper Racing chassis designs and other racing industry vendors are expected to take part in the Jamboree as well.
There has been quite a bit of interest coming from North of the border as the ten-time 2016 RevStar feature winner and current SpeedSTR National points leader Pierre Hebert is expected to make the long trip south to do battle against the seven-time USA SpeedSTR feature winner Tim Buckwalter from Pottstown, Pa., who is a close second to Hebert in the standings. Hebert, the Canadian RevStar Tour Champion, captured all but two races in this year’s series – and both of those went to Francis Methot. Those ten victories in RevStar competition propelled Hebert to the top of the National SpeedSTR standings.
The past two seasons have seen the National SpeedSTR Champion come from deep in the point standings to win the title by virtue of one (or even two) victories in the Fall Jamboree. In 2014, Billy Pauch Sr. scored a feature win in the finale to narrowly defeat Canadian sensation Maxime Plante, the 2012 champ, for the title.
Last year, Whitehall, Pa. wheel-twister Mike Bednar notched a pair of Fall Jamboree feature wins, including a Saturday thriller over Jay Hartman, to leap over several drivers in the National point standings and claim the Championship. Hebert went into last season’s Fall Jamboree with the National point lead, but a pair of disappointing runs, combined with Bednar’s outstanding effort, had Hebert heading back across the border without championship gold.
Heading into the weekend of October 22nd and 23rd, the All-Star Slingshot National standings had Dylan Hoch atop the point parade, with Seth Spayd and 2009 National Champion Cody Kline close behind. National Tour events at Mahoning Valley and Spirit Auto Center Speedway during the weekend may add other contenders to the championship picture as the Slingers now prepare for Trail-Way and the Fall Jamboree. As an added bonus, Speedway Entertainment will double the All Star Slingshot payout if 50 or more cars are entered on either Saturday, Sunday, or both.
The (8- to-14 year-old) Junior Slingshot racers find Fleetwood, Pa.’s Kyle Smith with a slim advantage of just 11 points over New York’s Hunter Lapp, with Jared Silfee in third. If 30 or more Junior Slingshots enter on Saturday and/or Sunday, their payout will double.
The Wingless 600 Sprints will run 25 lap main events on both days. The Action Track USA purse structure will be in place for the ultra-exciting 600 Sprints, with a $500 prize awaiting the winner ($700 if driver pays $20 Gambler’s Fee at sign-in). That payout will be in effect if the number of entries falls between 36 and 49. If 50 or more cars are entered on either Saturday, Sunday, or both days, then the payout will be doubled. The entry fee will be $30 per day (with an additional, optional $20 Gambler’s Fee available) and the 600’s will have an OPEN tire rule for the Fall Jamboree.
Ticket prices for both days will be the same as the Action Track USA admission prices which are: $12.00 for ages 13 & over, $10.00 for senior citizens, and $5.00 for children from 6 to 12 years-old.
Pit prices will be $60.00 for the weekend and $35.00 for a 1 day Sunday pass.
Pets are NOT ALLOWED at Trail-Way. Camping will be allowed but there is no hook ups. There are quite a few places for lodging nearby in the Hanover/ Gettysburg area.
