Flyin’ Farmer 40 This Sunday, June 9
Kutztown, PA (June 2) — This Sunday, June 9, the Berks County oval comes alive once again with another huge event – the Flyin’ Farmer 40 for the USAC SpeedSTRs, with a $3,000 paycheck awaiting the victor. The previous six editions of the 40-lapper that pays homage to the late, great Tommy Hinnershitz who lived (and farmed) in nearby Oley, PA, have produced six different winners. Billy Pauch Sr. (2013), Billy Pauch Jr. (2014), Mike Mahaney (2015), Jeff Hartman (2016), Tim Buckwalter (2017), and Steve Buckwalter (2018) have captured the Flyin’ Farmer race…will another driver add his name to the lofty winner’s list or will we see the first repeat winner?
Also on tap, this Sunday will be the make-up B-Main and 25-lap feature for the Hyper Racing EVO Injection 600 Sprints, along with a full program of heats, alphabet mains, and regularly scheduled 25-lap main event. The make-up B-Main and feature were rained out on May 19, then again on June 2nd. The All Star Slingshots are also on the June 9 menu.
Due to the added make-up events and the big race for the SpeedSTRs, this Sunday’s start time has been moved up a bit. Pit gates will open at 3:30, grandstand gates at 5:00, and warm-ups will commence at 5:45 with racing to follow immediately after the hot lap sessions.
This week’s event is also the final Sunday racing program of the season. Beginning June 12, Championship Energy Action Track USA switches to Wednesday nights for the remainder of the 2019 campaign. Wednesday, June 12, is Glick Fire Equipment First Responders Night with racing scheduled for the USAC All-Pro SpeedSTRs, the Hyper Racing EVO Injection 600 Sprints, the All Star Slingshots, and the Junior Slingshots. First Responders showing a valid and current I.D. will receive free admission on June 12.
