$1,000-To-Win Tri-Track Challenge for Hyper Racing 600 Sprints Highlights July 13 Event

The 3rd Annual Tri-Track Challenge, a three-race miniseries contested at Linda’s Speedway (July 1st), Lanco’s Clyde Martin Memorial Speedway (July 2nd), and Action Track USA (July 13) will conclude next Wednesday with several drivers – given the right set of circumstances – still in the running for the 2016 Tri-Track Championship for the Hyper Racing 600 Sprints Powered by Hyper Fuel Injection Technology.

Tommy Kunsman, Bethlehem, leads the Tri-Track point standings heading into the $1,000-to-win event (w/Gambler’s fee) at the progressively banked oval on the Kutztown Fairgrounds.

Kunsman finished 2nd at Linda’s and 12th at the Clyde to build a three-point margin over Elverson’s Austin Bishop, who rebounded from a 16th place effort at Linda’s to win the Firecracker Frenzy event at Clyde Martin. Jesse Maurer, the Mount Joy Outlaw who was one of the winners

at AT USA on June 22nd, sits third in the Tri-Track standings, just 11 points out of the lead. Maurer finished a strong fourth at Linda’s but slipped to 21st at the Clyde.

The high level of competition in these first two events is evident when examining the plight of the top three in points; despite their position in the standings, all three wheel-twisters had a great finish in one of the races but struggled in the other. The same can be said for every driver in the top 10 of the Tri-Track point chase, making the final race at Action Track USA a true wild card…who knows what will happen?

Fleetwood’s Jason Swavely captured the 2014 and 2015 Tri-Track Championships with strong runs in every event. This season, Swavely got off to a terrific start in the series, winning the opener at Linda’s on July 1st. His luck quickly turned sour, though, as he failed to qualify the next night at Clyde Martin Memorial Speedway. On the strength of his victory on the quarter-mile in Jonestown, Swavely still resides 8th in the point parade, 18 tallies out of first – an extremely difficult (but not impossible) chore of winning his third consecutive title.

Brandon Azzalina, from Saylorsburg, won last year’s Tri-Track Challenge race at Action Track USA while the Phenom, Alex Bright, captured the 2014 event. Both are expected to be in the field when the finale goes green on Wednesday the 13th.

The USAC All Pro SpeedSTRs and NAPA Auto Parts All Star Slingshots will join the Hyper Racing 600 Sprints on AEI (Ankiewicz Equipment) and Checkered Flag Fan Club Night as the speedway kicks off the second half of its 2016 racing season!
