Reimert Is Now A SpeedSTR Winner; Snyder Takes 600 Speedweek Victory at Action Track USA

Kutztown, PA (July 20)— He’s been knocking on the door to victory lane for a few years now. After several “near misses” over the past one-and-a half seasons, Oley’s Louden Reimert finally kicked in that door and scored his first SpeedSTR triumph at Championship Energy Action Track USA on Wednesday night. Reimert passed New York’s Dillon Steuer for the lead, then held off Steuer in heavy lapped traffic to win the Rodota Trucking & Excavating main event.

Joining Reimert as a feature winner on July 20 was Rising Sun, Maryland’s Steven Snyder Jr., who picked up his second 600 Sprint victory of the year. And this was a big one, as Snyder won a nail-biter over Colin White in the third race of 2022 Hyper Racing 600 Speedweek. The annual week long affair pulled a fantastic field of 95 combatants who aspired to race their way into the 35 lap Morris Mechanical A-main.

The 30 lap Speedway Entertainment All Pro SpeedSTR main began with Dillon Steuer outgunning pole sitter Cale Zangli for the top spot as third place starter Louden Reimert slipped past Zangli for second on the opening circuit.

Reimert then hounded Steuer while also fending off the challenges of Briggs Danner and Tim Buckwalter, who were battling one another and simultaneously attacking the runner up.
With just one early caution slowing the pace of the fiercely contested affair, Reimert closed in on Steuer just after the halfway point. When Steuer twitched a bit in turns three and four, Reimert pounced, throwing a slider and charging off of four with the race lead. Steuer mounted a counter-attack but it was repelled by Reimert, who danced away to a healthy lead as the race entered its final stages.

“I actually dislike slide jobs; I think they’re kind of stupid,” smiled Reimert in victory lane. “But, when Dillion got tight there in three and four, I figured it was the right time to throw a slider and it worked.”

Reimert encountered heavy traffic as he caught the back of the pack in the waning laps, with cars fighting for position and running side by side in front of him. Steuer narrowed the gap, but Reimert sliced his way between the cars in his path and maintained a couple of car lengths over his pursuer.

Reimert zipped under the checkered flag for his first career SpeedSTR triumph at Action Track USA, beating Steuer to the stripe by 0.269 seconds. Danner held off T. Buckwalter for third and Tom Mayberry completed the top five.

Heat wins fell to Matt Janisch, Steve Drevicki (subbing for Steve Buckwalter), and Tim Buckwalter. Janisch was fastest in the Timed Dashes with a quick lap of 11.581 seconds.

Steven Snyder Jr. came into the third race of Hyper 600 Speedweek locked in a tie (with Christian Bruno) for the Speedweek point lead. He left with sole possession of the number one position, thanks to his thrilling victory over Colin White in the 35 lap A-main for the 600 Sprints.

White earned the most qualifying points in time trials and heat races, putting him on the pole for the $1,000 to win event. White set the pace in the early going with Snyder, who took the green in third, bolting past Connor Gross to run second. Snyder immediately zoomed in on the race leader, nipping at the heels of White’s No. 6. Just a few car lengths behind the high flying duo, Tim Buckwalter and Christian Bruno were makin’ time in the high groove as they entered the top five and gobbled up the gap between themselves and the top two wheel-twisters.

Snyder began to throw jabs at White, ducking under the leader on several occasions, only to have White dart back in front of him on the straightaways. On lap 15, though, a patented “Snyder Slider” got the job done and Snyder found himself at the head of the pack. White was able to keep the Maryland hot shoe in sight but could not offer a significant challenge again.

Some intense action was taking place behind the first pair in the running order, as Carber, Tim Buckwalter, Bruno, and the night’s quick timer, Billy Pauch Jr., diced for the remaining spots in the top five.

Snyder flew to the checkered for his second win of the season at Action Track USA and his second consecutive Speedweek victory at Berks County’s Baddest Bullring. White trailed by nearly a half-second at the finish, with Carber coming on strong on the final tour to nip Buckwalter for third. Pauch was fifth and finishing sixth through tenth were Bruno, Jackson White, NASCAR star Christopher Bell, Connor Gross, and Montana’s Eric Bodine.

Tommy Kunsman was the feature’s Hard Charger, racing his way from 22nd on the starting grid to an 11th place finish.

Pauch picked up the cash for setting fast time, and Flight A heat winners included Gross, Fred Heinly, Aidan Donaldson, Alec Quiggle, and Briggs Danner. Taking heat race victories in Flight B were Carber, White, Illinois’ Daniel Robinson, Danny Buccafusca, and T. Buckwalter. The four B-Mains were claimed by Danner, Billy Koch, Gavin Miller, and Tommy Kunsman.

Coming up this Wednesday, July 27, is Glick Fire Equipment/ Belfor Property Restoration Night at Action Track USA. On the menu are two main events for the Hyper Racing 600 Sprints, with the first one postponed by rain on July 13. Following the make-up 25 lapper, a full program of qualifying heats, last-chance qualifiers, and another 25 lap feature will be contested. The All Pro SpeedSTR’s, All Star Slingshots, and Junior Slingshots will also be competing at the racy oval located on the Kutztown Fairgrounds.
