Next Two Wednesdays Feature HUGE Events At Action Track USA

Dick Tobias Classic This Wednesday, July 24, and USAC National Midgets In Town On July 31

Kutztown, PA (July 21) – The next two Wednesdays are, arguably, the biggest two weeks at Championship Energy Action Track USA since Rich Tobias and Doug Rose took the helm in 2013.

One driver could go home with $7,000 this Wednesday, July 24, if he can sweep both main events that will be contested by the USAC All Pro SpeedSTRs. In addition, there will be qualifying races and features for the Hyper Racing EVO Injection 600 Sprints and the All Star Slingshots. And the Slingshot headliner is the annual Kutztown Komet 100 that honors the memory of the late Freddy Adam. The SpeedSTRs will take part in the (twice) rained out Dick Tobias Classic, then come back and compete in heat races, a B-Main, and a 30-lap feature! The Dick Tobias Classic pays a whopping $5,000 to win, and the regularly scheduled 30-lapper offers the winner a $2,000 payday.

And here’s the best part…you get to witness all of the fantastic four-wheeled mayhem described above for the regular admission price of just $14 for Adults, $12 for Senior Citizens (anyone 62 and older); $5 for youth between the ages of six and 12; and children under the age of six are free!

Pit gates will open at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, with the grandstand gates swinging open at 5:00. Warm-ups begins a few minutes after 6:00 and qualifying races follow immediately after the hot lap sessions.

On May 19, all of the SpeedSTR qualifying activity was complete before the rains came and washed out the 75-lap Dick Tobias Classic. It was rained out again on June 19, but will finally be made up this Wednesday, and then the SpeedSTRs come back with a full program of qualifying and a second main event – at a distance of 30-laps.

All of the past winners of the Dick Tobias Classic are locked in to the starting field this Wednesday. Already qualified are: Rick Eckert (2013), Brad Brightbill (2014), and Tim Buckwalter (2018), who will attempt to win their second 75-lap Tobias Classic. No one, however, has had more success in the lucrative long distance event than three-time and defending SpeedSTR point champion Billy Pauch Jr. “The Kid’s Kid” has triumphed in the race dedicated to the memory of Dick “Toby” Tobias on three occasions (2015, and twice in 2017 – the race was rained out in ’16 so it was held two times the following season).

Wednesday, July 31 marks the first-ever appearance by the USAC NOS Energy Drink National Midget Championship Series at the oval located on the Kutztown Fairgrounds. Joining the mighty Midgets will be opening night for this year’s Hyper Racing 600 Speedweek presented by 600cc Performance, making this a non-wing doubleheader that can’t be missed!

Defending USAC National Midget Champion Logan Seavey and current point leader Tyler Courtney will lead a talented and aggressive group of competitors to the Keystone State for PA Midget Week. The race at Action Track USA will be the second of five events for the wildly competitive division, and the Kutztown event has the USAC standouts salivating with anticipation. A contingent of local drivers are preparing to take on the Midwest hot shoes, and fans have circled this race on their motorsports calendars since it was announced last winter.

Pit gates will open at 4 p.m., with grandstand gates swinging open at 5:00 on July 31st. Heat in the motors, warm-ups, and qualifying gets underway at 6:15. Belfor Property Restoration and Storm Chassis are backing the USAC Midgets appearance, while Rodota Excavating and Trucking is sponsoring the 600 Speedweek portion of the event. The All Star Slingshots are also on the menu of high speed adventure; the top point earners will be invited to run a “feature only” format.

July 24 is your chance to see if one driver can pocket $7,000 after a total of 105 laps of clay spraying SpeedSTR action, plus 600 Sprints and Slingshots! The very next week is highlighted by the first-ever Action Track USA visit by the USAC National Midgets! The month of July ends with a pair of monstrous events in Kutztown!
