It’s Canada vs. USA for SpeedSTR Title at World Championship Weekend on October 18 & 19
SpeedSTRs, Legends, Pro 4’s, All Star & Junior Slingshots will descend on the Speedway at Pagoda MC
Birdsboro, PA (October 10)— When the Speedway at Pagoda MC plays host to World Championship Weekend on October 18 & 19, the battle for the SpeedSTR title will be a fight between several Canadian wheel-twisters and American throttle-jockeys…and they will have three opportunities to score points during the weekend of clay slingin’ competition.
Canada’s Pierre Hebert and New Jersey’s Bobby Butler are currently tied for the SpeedSTR World Championship lead at 120 points. Just ten tallies behind are north-of-the-border Kevin Herbert and Pennsylvania resident Cale Zangli.
Other drivers still solidly in the hunt are Canada’s Yan Bussiere and American Matt Janisch (tied for fifth with 105 points each), along with Carl Brisebois (Canada) and the USA’s Briggs Danner, who are tied for seventh with 100 points each.
Danner is currently undefeated at the Speedway at Pagoda MC, winning twice in his No. 78 SpeedSTR in the spring of this year. Briggs also added a 600 Sprint victory during an April event at Pagoda. Danner was a recent SpeedSTR winner on asphalt, picking up a triumph at Evergreen Speedway on October 4, when he joined Janisch in victory lane during a twin-feature event.
Milford, NJ ace Bobby Butler carries some momentum into the big weekend of racing, too, as he recently traveled to Canada for a couple of SpeedSTR races and picked up a win in the process. During the summer months, Butler earned his first career SpeedSTR victory with a win at Action Track USA on the Kutztown Fairgrounds. He and Hebert are set to duke it out for the World Championship during the three race gauntlet of speed at Pagoda.
Others expected to compete on October 18 & 19 include “the Phenom” Alex Bright, Tanner Van Doren, “the WheelMaster General” Tim Buckwalter, “the Hurricane” Earl Paules, and Billy Pauch Jr.
On Saturday, October 18, pit gates open at 2 p.m. General Admission ticket sales begin at 3:00, with hot laps scheduled for 4:30. Race time is 5 p.m.
Saturday’s agenda includes qualifying and feature races for the SpeedSTRs (Twin 20’s with full points awarded in each feature), the Legend Cars, the Pro 4 Series, along with the All Star and Junior Slingshots.
On Sunday, October 19, the day begins with a meeting for all current and interested SpeedSTR competitors in the Pagoda MC Clubhouse at 10 a.m. There will be a Chapel Service in the Clubhouse at 11:30. Pits open at 10 a.m. with spectator ticket sales starting at noon. Warm ups get underway at 1:30 and the first heat race goes green at 2:30 p..m.
The SpeedSTRs will go 75 laps—and get paid $4,000 to win—in their final main event of the weekend, when the 2025 World Champion will be determined. Joining them once again will be the Legend Cars, Pro 4 Series, plus All Star and Junior Slingshots in their final tune up before the following weekend’s Slingshot World Championships.
On October 18 & 19, Adult general admission is $18 per day. Seniors and youth ages 6 – 12 will be admitted for $16. Children five years old and younger get in free.
It’s an Action Track Extra that can’t be missed on the new and very racey oval at Pagoda MC. While several drivers remain in contention, only one will join past title holders Freddy Rahmer Jr., Billy Pauch, and Briggs Danner as a SpeedSTR World Champion when the final checkered flag waves on October 19.
Will a Canadian invader steal the thunder and go back across the border with all the loot from World Championship Weekend? Or can the Americans defend their home turf and keep the title here in the USA? There’s only one way to find out…BE THERE for SpeedSTR World Championship Weekend on October 18 & 19 at the Speedway at Pagoda MC!
